Restart of minimum qualifying rate consultation briefing for analysts

Analyst Advisory

April 7, 2021

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions will resume its policy work on the minimum qualifying rate for uninsured mortgages by issuing a new consultation on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 12:00 noon (ET).

On January 24, 2020, OSFI indicated that it was reviewing the benchmark rate (or floor) used for qualifying uninsured mortgages. This consultation was suspended on March 13, 2020 in response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the release of the consultation letter, OSFI officials will be available to analysts for 45 minutes by teleconference at 1:00 p.m. (ET) to respond to questions regarding the announcement.

To participate, please register by April 8 at 11:00 a.m. (ET).

OSFI will provide those who register with teleconference dial-in details following registration.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions by phone during the briefing.
